77-year-old man arrested in Burgos with cocaine and drug distribution materials
Officers from the Civil Guard arrested a 77-year-old man who was wandering through the centre of a town in La Bureba, in the province of Burgos. He was carrying a quantity exceeding one hundred grams of cocaine, a precision scales and utensils for dividing the drug, according to ABC.
The arrest took place when a patrol observed the septuagenarian wandering aimlessly along the road. The uniformed officers approached to question him, but the man was unable to justify his presence in the location or clarify his destination. These inconsistencies alerted the officers, who decided to search his belongings.
Inside a bag he was carrying they discovered a white powder whose texture was consistent with cocaine, something that subsequent analysis confirmed. The weighing yielded a result of 101 grams. Additionally, they found a precision scales and other objects that indicated the substance was intended to be divided up and sold.
The quantity of the drug and the associated equipment led investigators to conclude that the elderly man intended to distribute the cocaine in small amounts. As a result, he was taken to police headquarters and, after formalising the arrest, handed over to the judicial authorities in Briviesca.
