Two arrested in Valencia for forcing women into prostitution under threats
The National Police arrested a 56-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman for allegedly exploiting several women in a brothel in Valencia.

The National Police have arrested two people in Valencia — a 56-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman — for allegedly forcing several women to engage in prostitution under conditions against their will, according to ABC.
The investigations were carried out by officers from the Provincial Brigade of Immigration and Borders (BPEF) after it became known that a woman who ran a brothel in the city was imposing abusive conditions on the victims. They were required to be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with no possibility of refusing any service, and were penalised if they refused to have sexual relations without a condom.
According to sources close to the investigation, half of the income obtained by the victims was handed over to the manager. Some of them also had to pay rent to remain in the premises. The detainee also threatened to throw them out onto the street if they refused any service, taking advantage of their vulnerable situation.
The woman was arrested as a suspected perpetrator of an offence relating to prostitution and an offence of coercion, subsequently being placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
As part of the same investigation, officers determined that the arrested man forced his own wife to engage in full-time prostitution every day of the week. The threat used was to cause physical harm to her or to her minor daughter if she refused. The suspect exercised constant control over the woman through telephone calls and kept virtually all of the money she generated. He was arrested as a suspected perpetrator of an offence relating to prostitution and was equally placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
