Spanish authorities have accused Jonathan Andic, elder son of Isak Andic, founder of the clothing brand Mango, of his father's death. The 71-year-old Turkish-Spanish businessman died on 14 December 2024, following a fall near the Salnitre caves of Collbató, in Montserrat, Barcelona.
The emergency call made by the son, five minutes after the incident, was released on Monday. Jonathan Andic called emergency services requesting help, stating that "my father has fallen" and providing the exact location.
However, investigations by the Mossos d'Esquadra suggest that the fall was not accidental. Investigators suspect that the troubled relationship between father and son may have motivated the crime. Jonathan's initial statements were considered incongruent and lacking in emotional impact.
Incriminating messages were also recovered from the suspect's mobile telephone. In a text sent to his father, Jonathan celebrated the progress of family therapy that both were attending to improve their relationship, but stated: "it does not surprise me that he thought I was capable of killing him". Another message, sent in July 2025, said: "I understand that it was impossible to save our relationship, it does not surprise me that the rope has broken".
The accused's defence considered that these statements were taken out of context and should be understood within the therapeutic setting, as the sessions involved "metaphorical references".
Jonathan Andic was detained by the Mossos d'Esquadra, but was released after paying a one-million-euro bail.
