Serious assault in Torre Pacheco
According to la7tv.es, a man was arrested after attacking another person with a hammer at around 18:00 on Thursday on Avenida Juan Carlos I in Torre Pacheco. The altercation began inside a dwelling between two men who shared the residence, but ended in the public street where officers from the Local Police and Guardia Civil intercepted him after witnesses called 112.
The attacker, covered in blood and still carrying the weapon, was found alongside his victim. According to accounts from those present, the suspect remained beside the seriously injured body, touching the victim's head even when the injured man was already unconscious. Passers-by recorded videos with their mobile phones capturing the scene, documentation which is now in police possession.
The victim presented serious traumatic brain injury and was taken by ambulance to Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca in Murcia, where he was admitted to the Neurology service and, for now, is stable. A second person suffered minor injuries after being attacked with a broken glass bottle by the same individual. Pedro Ángel Roca, Mayor of Torre Pacheco, confirmed the toll: "There are two injured people, one with minor injuries and one with serious injuries."
Members of the security forces recovered the bloodstained hammer at the scene and proceeded to arrest the suspect in situ. Sources close to the case do not rule out that this person may suffer from some type of mental disorder.
The mayor urged people not to heed dubious information that might spread on social networks, requesting caution given the lack of information about the current state of the injured parties. The incident occurred just over a year after Torre Pacheco was the scene of racially-motivated disturbances in summer of 2025, when eight men were investigated for their involvement in a brutal assault on a minor.
