The Civil Guard has arrested three Spanish nationals and is investigating an Italian following the interception of four shipments containing 16 kilos of marijuana and three of hashish hidden among clothing and food at Palma Airport.

Four postal packages passing through Palma Airport triggered alarms for agents of the armed institute. Inside, concealed among clothing and food products, were 19 kilogrammes of narcotic substances. The operation has resulted in the arrest of three Spanish males and the implication of a fourth individual of Italian origin, according to a report by Diario de Mallorca.
The investigation began in late May and early June. Officers from the UDAIFF—the unit responsible for analysis, taxation and border control—observed signs that the shipments could contain more than what was declared. Upon opening them, they found sixteen kilos of marijuana and three of hashish.
From that point on, investigators traced the origin and destination of the packages. Their inquiries led them to identify four island residents, aged between 26 and 45 years old. Three of them were arrested; the fourth, the Italian citizen, was placed under investigation.
All have appeared before the court as suspected perpetrators of an offence against public health.
