A Córdoba court will try next week two men and a woman who allegedly murdered a sixty-year-old resident in his home in the Sagunto neighbourhood and subsequently took his belongings.

A Córdoba court will hold in the coming days an oral trial with a citizen jury against two men and a woman who are accused of the murder of a tenant of around sixty years old. The incident took place on 2 April 2024 in the Sagunto neighbourhood.
The three defendants had made contact with the victim, nicknamed 'Rafalín', at a charity soup kitchen. Thanks to that connection, they managed to lodge in his home. One night, the two men dragged the host to a room adjacent to the living room. There they inflicted a brutal beating with fists and feet, in addition to striking him with an iron implement found in the room. They covered his face to silence him and he ended up dying.
After confirming the death, the trio remained in the property. When they believed they could leave without being detected, they abandoned the place taking jewellery, footwear, a mobile phone and the keys to the home. Hours later, one of them returned with the stolen keys and took a television set along with its remote control.
The authorities arrested the suspects while they still carried the stolen objects. The Public Prosecution Service is demanding 27 years of imprisonment for each man and 17 for the woman, who is presumed to be an accomplice. In total, the requests amount to 71 years of deprivation of liberty, plus a decade of subsequent judicial supervision for all three.
