The National Police issued a warning on Tuesday aimed at those intending to purchase tickets for the football match between Valladolid and Deportivo, scheduled for Sunday 24. According to ABC, the authorities have confirmed a series of scams carried out through social media and digital platforms.
The modus operandi is consistent across all complaints received so far: different users post advertisements selling tickets for the match on social media. When a potential buyer shows interest, the scammers propose continuing the conversation via WhatsApp and request payment through Bizum.
Once the agreed sum has been transferred, the fraudsters cut off all communication, blocking the buyer on all applications. The tickets never arrive. The National Police note that the success of the deception relies on the use of "products with high demand at affordable prices", which generates urgency among those interested.
In response to this situation, the police force reminds people that "the purchase of tickets for sporting events and all types of entertainment must be carried out through official channels", where "secure payment platforms exist that guarantee the purchase".
