Minor arrested in Valladolid after assaulting woman to steal her phone
Officers from the National Police arrested an adolescent aged 17 in Valladolid accused of participating in an assault for theft purposes. The arrest took place after the victim, a woman, alerted authorities that two individuals had attacked her on the Carretera de Renedo.
According to the account given by the victim, the two youths intercepted her, demanding her bag and telephone, warning her that they were carrying a bladed weapon. The woman refused to hand over her belongings, which provoked a violent reaction from the attackers. One of them kicked her in the chest, whilst the second threw a plastic chair at her and punched her on the side of the skull.
The victim's screams alerted possible witnesses and the assailants fled. When uniformed officers arrived at the scene, the woman provided them with a physical description of the attackers. An initial search of the surrounding area yielded no results.
Hours later, the victim called the police coordination centre again after spotting the alleged perpetrators once more. A patrol located one of those involved walking along the hard shoulder of the VA-20 in the opposite direction to traffic. The boy was identified and taken into custody.
After informing the Juvenile Prosecution Office of the facts, it was agreed that the detainee would be released into the custody of his mother. The assaulted woman stated that she would of her own initiative go to a health centre to be evaluated and that she would lodge a complaint regarding what had happened.
The investigation remains open to locate the whereabouts of the second participant in the assault.
