A business dedicated to the manufacture of registration plates in Valladolid has been seized following an investigation by the Guardia Civil that revealed its involvement in illicit activities. Officers discovered that the premises used its equipment to produce counterfeit plates used by criminal gangs engaged in car theft.
The lead that led to the establishment emerged after the discovery of a vehicle stolen in Palencia province. Upon examining the car, investigators found that it carried registration plates that did not match its official documentation. Tracing the origin of these plates, the Guardia Civil arrived at the Valladolid workshop.
During Operation 'Clausa Onus', officers inspected the facilities and confirmed that the die-cutting machine and raw materials were not being used to replace damaged legal registration plates, as would be their normal function, but to create plates of illicit origin, according to details provided by ABC.
The business owner was unable to justify to officers the origin or destination of the plates he had manufactured. For this reason, the matter was referred to the competent administrative authorities. The infraction committed could result in a fine ranging between thirty thousand and six hundred thousand euros.
