Seven and a half years in prison for stabbing a man three times in A Coruña
A man was sentenced by the Provincial Court of A Coruña to seven years and six months in prison for attacking another person with a knife in the back in August 2024.

Final sentence following agreement between parties in stabbing case on Avenida de Finisterre
The Provincial Court of A Coruña issued a final sentence on Tuesday against a man who accepted a sentence of seven years and six months in prison for stabbing another person in the back. According to ABC, the court tried the defendant today, who had reached an agreement with the parties before the oral trial.
The events occurred on 9 August 2024. According to a statement from the National Police, the accused "lunged at the victim on Avenida de Finisterre and, with the intention of killing him, drove a large knife into his back whilst he was lying on the ground". When the victim turned around, the attacker attempted to drive the knife into his chest, but the injured party raised an arm, which received two further stab wounds. In total, the victim suffered three knife wounds.
The Public Prosecutor's Office had initially requested nine years in prison. The private prosecution raised that request to twelve years, while the defence sought acquittal or, subsidiarily, a conviction for assault with a dangerous instrument. The agreement reached between all parties also included the payment of compensation of €23,100 to the victim.
Second white weapon incident in the same city
Also on Tuesday, and in A Coruña, police arrested a man for attacking another person with a white weapon, according to municipal sources who confirmed this to the Europa Press agency. The alert reached the emergency service 112 at 7.50 in the morning and was relayed to the Local Police, the National Police and Emergency Healthcare Services.
The incident took place on Calle Educación. According to the same sources, it was a fight between two men who regularly spend the night in the area, and resulted in a minor injury with a wound to the leg. The Universitary Hospital Complex of A Coruña (Chuac) clarified that the victim received two stitches and was discharged following medical care.
