A 30-year-old man was detained after attacking his ex-partner with a sharp weapon in the entrance hall of her home in Ourense. The woman, 23 years old, suffered injuries to her arms, wrist and head, although she is not in danger. The minors witnessed the assault.

A man of approximately 30 years was taken into police custody on Wednesday in the Ourense capital after wounding the mother of his two children with a cutting weapon. The assault took place inside the entrance hall of the victim's home, on Calle Monte Seixo, as she was going out accompanied by the children.
The young woman, 23 years old, suffered injuries to her arms, a bone fracture in her wrist and mild cranioencephalic trauma. Emergency health services transported her to the area's reference hospital, where she was admitted. Doctors have ruled out any risk to her life.
National Police officers searched the area and found the suspected perpetrator in a nearby park, popularly known as "la zapatilla". A neighbourhood resident proved decisive in the capture: he confronted the fugitive, followed him and pointed police officers in the direction he had taken. Part of the sharp object used in the assault was recovered at the location.
The representative of the central Government in the province, Eladio Santos, clarified that the couple had not shared a home for some time. He also indicated that the victim was not registered on the national gender-based violence case monitoring platform (Viogen) and that there were no previous records of complaints for mistreatment.
The minors received specialised psychological care and were handed over to a relative. The arrested man remains in police custody, awaiting summons from the judge of the specialised gender-based violence court in Ourense to testify.
