Inga Tahvanainen missing from Punkaharju: police continue search
Police are still searching for Inga Tahvanainen, who went missing from Punkaharju on 20 September. Criminal investigator Jari Lehto: "I would not yet give up hope."
Search continues – hope has not been abandoned
According to ita-savo.fi, Eastern Finland Police are continuing their search for Inga Tahvanainen, although the woman went missing from Punkaharju on 20 September. Criminal investigator Jari Lehto tells Ilta-Sanomat that police do not at this stage suspect a crime.
– I would not yet give up hope, Lehto states.
No actual ground or water searches have been launched, as a precise fixed location is missing. A few days after the disappearance, police received eyewitness observations, but their number has since decreased.
– The most reliable observation is that she would have gone as far as Parikkalaa, Lehto tells Ilta-Sanomat.
There is surveillance camera footage of Inga Tahvanainen from Punkaharju S-market on 20 September between 18–19 o'clock. Lehto did not comment on what inquiries police have made, for example regarding use of a bank card.
Spouse believes she went to Imatra
Inga's spouse Timo Tahvanainen believes his wife went to Imatra. A woman matching Inga's appearance was spotted near Imatra police station on 21 September, but the observation has not been able to be verified.
– It is most likely that Inga came to Imatra, because she had booked a train ticket there twice. Police informed me that Inga had already ordered a ticket on 24 August for the following day's Punkaharju–Imatra evening train. However, she did not use the ticket, Timo Tahvanainen said in a previously published article.
Identifying features
Inga Tahvanainen is approximately 174 centimetres tall and has light brown hair. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing black trousers, blue trainers, a purple-black windbreaker jacket and glasses.
Observations regarding Inga Tahvanainen are requested to be reported to the emergency centre on number 112.
