Release from custody for James Dalamanga pending decision of Patras Court of Appeals
A court request for the release of James Dalamanga has been granted, with the 56-year-old temporarily leaving Agios Stefanos prison. The Greek-Australian is accused by Australian authorities of killing a relative.
The temporary release is subject to strict restrictive conditions. Specifically, he is prohibited from leaving Greek territory, whilst he is required to report to the police station every two weeks.
The Patras Court of Appeals will convene in order to decide on the request for his extradition to the country in Oceania. Australian authorities have been searching for him for a long time, as he is said to be involved in the murder of fellow Greek national Georgios Giannopoulos, which was committed in 1999 in Sydney.
