The alleged head of a gang that distributed cocaine, cannabis and sedatives in schools and playgrounds in Attica remains free. The 21-year-old, whom authorities describe as particularly dangerous, managed to escape during a police operation, even striking a police officer with his vehicle as the officer attempted to immobilise him.
According to information from MEGA TV, the young man had complete control of the illegal activity, from sourcing the substances to managing the money. A further gang member, 22 years old, also fled with him. At the same time, the 16-year-old deputy leader of the gang is being held by authorities.
In a recorded conversation, the fugitive is alleged to have stated that minors under his orders were selling significant quantities of drugs. In another instance, his associates describe meetings to collect new batches of substances and their transport in an expensive vehicle.
The criminal organisation operated at bus stops, schools and squares in the area. Additionally, the 21-year-old is alleged to have played an active role in an attack on young people in Kifissia.
Of the nine arrested, seven were remanded in custody. The two minors who were released had a restraining order imposed requiring them to present themselves once a month at the local police station.
Prosecuting authorities continue investigations to locate and arrest the alleged leader.
