Deacon in Thessaloniki arrested for assault on his mother-in-law in front of minor
A 34-year-old clergyman was referred directly to the Thessaloniki District Court for domestic violence against his 65-year-old mother-in-law.
Clergyman accused of domestic violence in eastern Thessaloniki
According to ERT, a 34-year-old deacon at a church in eastern Thessaloniki was arrested following a complaint filed by his mother-in-law for physical assault against her.
The 65-year-old woman reported that the incident occurred on the morning of the previous day. According to her statement, her son-in-law attacked her in an attempt to seize car keys that belong to his wife. She stated that he grabbed her right arm and left shoulder, pushing her downwards, while the entire episode unfolded in front of the eyes of the 8-year-old daughter of the accused, who burst into tears.
The 34-year-old was referred through direct prosecution to the Thessaloniki District Court for domestic violence causing bodily harm and threat committed in the presence of a minor.
The preliminary investigation of the case was conducted by the Domestic Violence Response Office of the Charílao-Analifseos Police Station.
