New evidence has emerged from the investigation into the double homicide in Aigion, where a 54-year-old woman and her son were found dead in their home. According to Naftemporiki, the case file is now in the hands of the Greek FBI.
The Italian partner of the woman remains the primary suspect and is in pre-trial detention. However, police officers from the service are said to be seriously examining the suspect's own claim: that the 54-year-old killed her son first and then took her own life.
According to information from ERT, photographs from the autopsy and evidence from the case file suggest that this scenario cannot be ruled out. Specifically, certainty cannot be expressed that a third party intervened in the death of both victims.
A critical element of the investigation is the knife wound on the back of the 54-year-old, which was initially the subject of extensive reporting. The forensic report appears to dispute the interpretation that had been attributed to it, a fact that partially overturns the investigators' initial conclusions.
