A week after the double murder in Aigion, a specialist team from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations returned to the crime scene for a thorough new examination, according to naftemporiki.gr. With the aid of specialised equipment, investigators are searching for traces that may have been removed or concealed, as well as evidence that will shed light on the circumstances of the crime's commission.
The focus of the investigation is on the possible use of cleaning products in the premises, as well as the absence of items of evidential significance. Police are examining whether there was a coordinated effort to eliminate evidence and who could have benefited from the tampering with the data.

The investigation is also extending to the wider area around the house. Police are searching for, among other things, the destroyed mobile telephone of the 54-year-old victim, as well as possible biological findings or other items that would strengthen the case file.
The statement of a neighbour – friend of the 65-year-old Italian defendant – is expected to prove decisive for the development of the case. According to evidence from the investigation, the neighbour received a telephone call from the 65-year-old in the early hours of the previous Tuesday, with a request to come immediately to the house. There he found himself in front of two bodies, whilst the 65-year-old was said to be in severe confusion and claiming ignorance of events. The neighbour was the one who notified the authorities.
The 65-year-old, who has already been remanded in custody, denies any involvement in the double murder. Through his lawyers he insists on his innocence and demands investigation of every available piece of evidence, including the examination of medical files related to the two victims, arguing that new information may emerge.
