Police operation against criminal ring stealing vehicles in Attica

From early Monday morning, police forces have been active in areas of north-east Athens and in the city centre. The purpose of the operation is to dismantle a group allegedly targeting vehicles and stealing them over an extended period in an organised manner.

So far, 13 people have been arrested. The operation is coordinated by the Department of Investigation of Crimes Against Life and Property (TDEE) of Spata-Artemida, with support from personnel of the Crime Prevention and Suppression Unit (OPKE).

The investigation began after a case file was drawn up by the competent department, which issued the relevant arrest warrants. Information indicates that members of the group allegedly stole vehicles in a systematic manner over an extended period of time.

The operation is ongoing and further announcements are expected.
