A young man from Turkey, aged 25, was shot dead by an unknown assailant on Saturday evening in Exarcheia. The authorities handling the case are examining the scenario of a clash between groups operating in drug trafficking, according to information from Naftemporiki.

The victim's body was found on the steps at the intersection of Kallidromíou and Emmanouíl Benákis streets. The 25-year-old had arrived in Greece in 2024 and had previously come to the attention of prosecuting authorities, having been brought in for questioning twice.

Eyewitnesses described how the shooter, who was wearing dark clothing and a hat, was waiting at the location. When he saw the Turkish national descending the steps accompanied by his dog, he pursued him and shot him multiple times from behind, with two of the bullets striking him in the head.

Five cartridge cases were recovered from the scene of the attack. At the same time, authorities are seeking video material from cameras in the area in order to reconstruct the route followed by the murderer after the crime.

The investigation is ongoing, with the aim of locating and apprehending the perpetrator.
