Femicide in Drama: Police officer killed his wife in presence of 16-year-old son
A police officer is alleged to have murdered his separated wife, also a police officer, at their shared home, whilst their 16-year-old son was present.

According to Ta Nea, a 50-year-old police officer is alleged to have attacked with a knife and killed his separated 45-year-old wife, also a police officer, inside their shared home in Drama. At the time of the attack, their 16-year-old son was present in the house, and witnessed his mother dead.
The couple were in separation, having decided to divorce after approximately twenty years of living together. The man, according to reports, did not accept the separation. Shortly afterwards he was found dead inside his car in a mountainous area of Drama, after taking his own life using his service weapon.
Two children are left behind by this tragedy: the 16-year-old son and a 20-year-old daughter, a law student in Komotini.
"It leaves no marks"
As reported by MEGA, a friend of the woman stated that the relationship involved psychological abuse. An expert who commented on the case noted that psychological abuse "leaves no marks and often neither the victim realises it", while adding that "usually someone knows or suspects that something is happening", although in this particular case those around her reported there was no physical abuse.
Psychologist and service record
The same source stated that neither of the two worked in a domestic violence unit, nor had they ever reported anything to a superior. The 45-year-old worked in a border guard unit.
According to information made public, the 50-year-old had privately consulted a psychologist, who also works with the Police. "When the psychologist determines that there is a danger to his own life or to the life of someone else, he immediately informs the Police. We have not been informed that it was determined there was a danger", it was emphasised. It is also reported that the perpetrator was referred at some point to a psychiatrist.
When the perpetrator is a police officer, according to the same source, "another procedure begins within the service itself", and it was underlined that "a police officer, even while on duty, can report" incidents of abuse and "the procedure moves immediately, all the more so when we are talking about someone in uniform".
