A 50-year-old man serving in the law enforcement authorities of Drama killed his 45-year-old wife, who also worked in the same field, and subsequently took his own life. The incident took place in the city of Drama in northern Greece.
The perpetrator did not stop the car before using his service weapon. Instead, he fatally wounded himself while the vehicle was moving. As a result, the car crashed into a fence and came to a stop against trees.
From the noise that was created, a neighbour left his home and found the 50-year-old dead. The neighbour, a doctor by profession, immediately realised that it was a suicide and called emergency services and the authorities. According to information, the police officers who arrived at the scene were from the 50-year-old's unit.
The psychologist of the 45-year-old victim described the perpetrator's behaviour. As he stated, the man did not behave appropriately towards her. He insulted her, demeaned her and there was no equal relationship. The woman wanted to leave the house when he came home. The psychologist said that he had advised the 45-year-old to inform the authorities about the threats she was receiving from her husband, and she had told him that she had already done so.
