Chase in Agia Paraskevi: 61 kilograms of cannabis and one arrested

A police pursuit of a car in Agia Paraskevi in the early hours of Tuesday resulted in the seizure of 61 kilograms of cannabis and the arrest of a 30-year-old Azerbaijani national.

Cinematic scenes of a police chase unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday, 7th July in Agia Paraskevi, when police officers attempted to stop a car with two occupants, according to Efimerida ton Syntakton.

The vehicle did not stop at the checkpoint and accelerated in an attempt to flee. During the chase, it struck a kerb, with the result that the two occupants abandoned it and fled on foot.

Video footage obtained by MEGA recorded the two men running in the area. In one of the most unusual moments of the case, a food delivery driver pursued them on his motorcycle and managed to immobilise one of the two.

Shortly afterwards, three vehicles from a special operations unit arrived at the scene. Police officers arrested a 30-year-old Azerbaijani national, whilst the second person involved managed to escape and continues to be sought.

During a search of the car, more than 61 kilograms of cannabis were found and seized. The police investigation is continuing both to locate the second suspect and to investigate the full extent of the case.
