According to Newsbeast, the 20-year-old who was wounded during a pursuit in Argos is hospitalised in extremely critical condition in the ICU of KAT hospital, with two serious head wounds. The prosecution is investigating the circumstances under which OPKE police officers opened fire at least 13 times against him.
A central issue of the investigation is whether the shots were directed at the young man or whether they were warning fire. At least 13 cartridges have been found at the scene of the incident, whilst on the wall that the 20-year-old climbed there are at least six bullet holes at different heights—a finding that, according to Newsbeast, suggests that these were not exclusively warning shots fired into the air.
The two police officers are charged with attempted murder with possible intent whilst of clear mind and were given a deadline to respond on Friday. During the preliminary investigation stage, they claimed they fired to frighten and immobilise the 20-year-old.
The ballistic examination is expected to be the "key" to the case file: it will determine whether any bullet ricocheted or whether there was direct fire towards the young man's face. The statement from the Hellenic Police headquarters following the incident was, according to the report, particularly cautious and focused mainly on the events that preceded the gunshots.
