At Piraeus' main port, port police with a detection dog located and arrested a young woman aged 20 years old who was aboard a passenger ferry. In her possession was found packaging containing white powder, which was identified as cocaine weighing over 50 grammes.
The suspect faces charges of unlawful possession and trafficking in controlled substances. Beyond the narcotics, authorities also seized two mobile phones found with her as evidence. The seized material will be sent for laboratory examination to confirm its composition.
According to estimates, the value of the quantity on black market networks amounts to more than €2,600. This operation is part of a broader plan by the Port Authority to intensify inspections at ports and ships ahead of the tourist season, during which traffic to the islands increases. Checks are expected to continue with undiminished intensity at all major ports in Greece.
