The 43-year-old man who rented a house from 45-year-old Stavroula Leventakis, who has disappeared from Chania, was taken to the Police Headquarters following searches that lasted several hours.
The suspect was located inside a vehicle in the Agia area, where he had hidden himself. Police had been searching for him since the morning after he went missing from his home. They finally located him on Friday evening and arrested him for cannabis cultivation.
Items found at his home are being examined by specialists. Authorities are investigating whether there are traces of blood and whether someone attempted to clean the space. His vehicle was also searched.
The man had spoken to police twice before disappearing. He claimed he hid because someone had threatened him with a weapon. By the morning, he had not admitted to anything.
