A young woman reported that her partner assaulted her and threatened her in front of their children. The 28-year-old was arrested in Chania.

In Chania, Crete, police arrested a 28-year-old man following a complaint filed by his 25-year-old partner.
The woman told authorities that her cohabitant attacked her with punches at their home, causing her injuries, abrasions and bruises. According to her account, the assault took place on 6 and 8 July. She also claimed that the man verbally threatened her in the presence of their minor children.
Police investigating the case opened a file against the suspect for violations related to violent behaviour within the family.
The relevant police office in Heraklion, which handles such cases, recorded 269 similar incidents in the first half of the current year.
