Seven of nine remanded in custody over drug distribution in schools and playgrounds
An investigating magistrate decided on the remand in custody of seven of a total of nine arrested individuals, as part of the case file concerning the distribution of psychotropic substances in educational institutions and recreational areas for minors in the northern suburbs of Athens.
The defendants had come under the scrutiny of prosecution authorities for drug trafficking in schools and playgrounds in the area. Following their testimony before the judicial officer, seven individuals were sent to prison.
Regarding the remaining two of the arrested, the investigating magistrate did not deem it necessary to impose provisional custody.
The case occupied the attention of the authorities as the perpetrators are said to have targeted minors in sensitive locations, such as school units and playgrounds, turning them into distribution points for addictive substances.
