The prosecutor of the Mixed Jury Court of Athens has proposed the acquittal of two police officers facing charges of rape. The court ruling is expected on 10 July.

Nearly four years after the incident, the prosecutor of the Mixed Jury Court of Athens requested the acquittal of two police officers facing charges of sexual assault against a young woman inside Omonia police station.
The incident concerns a girl who was 19 years old at the time and is now 23. The prosecutor proposed acquittal of the two men for the offence of rape, whilst for a third person implicated in the case he requested a conviction for illegal filming.
The lawyer representing the victim, Alexandra Kremizi, strongly disagreed with the prosecution's proposal. As she stated, her client was in a state of shock during the incident and was unable to react. The lawyer also emphasised that the absence of legal representation for the victim at the initial stages of the case left her unprotected.
From the opposing side, criminal lawyer Dimitris Zorbas, who is defending the two police officers, expressed satisfaction with the prosecutor's proposal. He characterised it as legally correct and expressed hope that the judges would agree.
The court is expected to announce its final ruling on the fate of all three involved parties on the morning of Friday, 10 July.
