A 28-year-old man was arrested in Chania, Crete, following a complaint filed against him by his 25-year-old wife for incidents of domestic violence.
The woman went to the police and reported two separate incidents that took place on 6 and 8 July. According to her statement, her husband struck her in the face and body, leaving her with marks, bruises and abrasions. These injuries were confirmed by medical examination.
Particularly serious is the fact that both assaults occurred in front of the couple's minor children. The presence of the children during the commission of the violent behaviour adds even greater weight to the case.
Following repeated incidents over a short period of time, the 25-year-old decided to turn to the authorities and report her husband. The 28-year-old was arrested and brought before the prosecutor, with legal proceedings underway.
