Officers from the D.I.A.S. team proceeded to arrest a 39-year-old man in the Metaxourgeio area, following information about activity related to the production and distribution of narcotic substances. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, when police located the suspect and requested that he submit to a search.
The man initially attempted to flee, but was immobilised by his pursuers. During the subsequent search, sixty pharmaceutical tablets and 650 euros in cash were found in his possession and were seized.
Subsequently, police officers from the Crime Investigation and Detection Directorate of Athens conducted a search of the apartment used by the arrested man as his base. There, thirteen cannabis seedlings were located and seized in a specially adapted space, along with the necessary equipment for their cultivation and drying. Additionally, thirty-two narcotic pills, two precision scales, a small quantity of raw cannabis, a small quantity of cocaine and three mobile phones were found and seized.
The 39-year-old was taken to the First Instance Prosecutor of Athens, who initiated criminal proceedings against him for violations of drug laws, as well as for resisting a police officer.
The investigation is being continued by the competent police services in order to determine whether the arrested man was acting alone or whether he is part of a wider drug distribution network in the broader area of the capital.
