Police officers arrested a driver who illegally transported eight foreign nationals without travel documents on the national road between Kavala and Thessaloniki.

Police officers from the Migration Management Department of Thessaloniki proceeded yesterday morning to arrest a 44-year-old man, who is accused of illegally transporting eight foreign nationals within Greece.
The incident occurred on the national road between Kavala and Thessaloniki, near the Analepsi toll booths. During a vehicle inspection, the authorities established that eight people from Afghanistan, Iraq, Burkina Faso and Eritrea were on board without travel documents.
The authorities believe that those transported had been picked up from the broader Evros region. The driver, a national of a neighbouring country, is expected to be brought before the prosecutor. The police seized the vehicle and a mobile phone.
