Skai.gr reports that criminal proceedings for sexual assault have been initiated against a 63-year-old man who was arrested following a complaint of sexual harassment of an 8-year-old girl in a park in Sykeon, Thessaloniki. The defendant was referred for trial to the summary single-judge court of first instance in Thessaloniki.
According to evidence from the investigation file, the incident allegedly took place yesterday afternoon. The minor, originally from Nigeria, asked the 63-year-old to use his mobile phone to contact her parents, as she had forgotten her house keys.
The man allegedly caressed the minor. At the time of the incident, the 8-year-old was in the park with her older sister, and the incident appears to have been noticed by bystanders.
The 63-year-old, according to information, works as a teacher in the private sector. During the preliminary investigation he denied the allegation.
