Google News GR — Crime (el) reports that police authorities in Thessaloniki arrested an 18-year-old in the early hours of Sunday, 5 July, at the intersection of Svolos and Ethnikis Amynis streets, in the city centre.

According to the Hellenic Police, the youth was driving a stolen motorcycle when he attempted to evade an imminent police check. He accelerated to high speed, driving dangerously, and collided with a parked car. He then abandoned the motorcycle and attempted to flee on foot, without success.

He faces charges of theft, disobedience, dangerous driving, and violation of residence restrictions. From the investigation that followed, according to thestival.gr, it emerged that the 18-year-old had escaped from an institution in which he was being held for the commission of thefts.
