In the early hours of Wednesday, police officers from the Immediate Action unit in Thessaloniki immobilised and arrested a 36-year-old foreign national, who is accused of unlawfully transporting foreign nationals within Greece.

The incident began in Meneménia, where patrol cars spotted the suspect's private vehicle. When asked to stop for a check, the driver refused to comply and accelerated. During his escape, he executed dangerous manoeuvres that endangered other drivers.

The pursuit ended in Kalochorí, where police officers managed to immobilise the vehicle. The 36-year-old offered physical resistance during arrest, but was nonetheless immobilised. Upon searching the car, two foreign nationals were found in the boot, who did not possess documents justifying their lawful presence in the country.

A criminal case was filed against the detainee by the Migration Management Department of Migdonia. The charges he faces include facilitating unlawful entry and residence of foreign nationals, participation in a criminal organisation, violent behaviour towards public officials, disobedience, dangerous interference with traffic, and driving without a licence.

The accused will be presented before the prosecutor, whilst the authorities impounded the vehicle and a mobile phone.
