Three deaths on beaches, drug arrest on Samos and 24 migrants on Samothrace
The Hellenic Coast Guard announced a series of incidents: three deaths in Oropos, Nea Makri and Symi, the arrest of a 36-year-old for drug offences on Samos and the discovery of 24 foreign nationals on Samothrace.

According to hcg.gr, the Hellenic Coast Guard (LS-ELAKT) recorded a number of serious incidents in Greek waters and on beaches within a 24-hour period, ranging from deaths of swimmers to the discovery of migrants and sailing bans.
Death of 76-year-old in Oropos
In the early afternoon, Oropos Port Authority was notified that a 76-year-old Greek national was recovered unresponsive from the "Ferry" beach in Markopoulo, Oropos. He was initially transferred to the local health clinic in Skala Oropos and subsequently to Kapandriti Health Centre, where his death was established. The 1st Port Authority Section of Oropos at the Central Port Authority of Chalkida ordered an autopsy by the Forensic Medicine Service of Athens.
Death of 82-year-old in Nea Makri
In the morning hours, an 82-year-old woman was recovered unresponsive from the "Zoumperi" beach in Nea Makri, Attica. The lifeguard provided first aid, however the woman died at Nea Makri Health Centre, to which she was transferred by EKAB ambulance. The Central Port Authority of Rafina also ordered an autopsy.
Death of 87-year-old on Symi
In the early afternoon, Symi Port Authority was notified of an 87-year-old man recovered unresponsive from the "Nimporios" maritime area of Symi. The man was transferred by EKAB ambulance to the local health centre, where his death was established. Symi Port Authority ordered an autopsy by the Forensic Medicine Service of the Dodecanese.
Arrest of 36-year-old for drug offences on Samos
In the morning hours, officers of the Drug Prosecution Office of Samos Port Authority, in cooperation with the Special Operations Unit and the Drug Prosecution Regional Team of the Central Port Authority of Chios, arrested a 36-year-old Greek national at Malagari port. The man was disembarking from a passenger-vehicle ferry operating a route from Piraeus when a drug-detection dog K-9 "Neda" located suspicious substances in his possession. A chemical spray device was also found on the 36-year-old. Samos Port Authority is conducting the preliminary investigation, and narcotic substances and the device have been seized. The 36-year-old is charged with breaches of legislation on controlled substances and weapons.
Discovery of 24 foreign nationals on Samothrace
In the morning hours of the previous day, Samothrace Port Authority located an inflatable boat in the "Agistroi" maritime area. An LS-ELAKT patrol vessel and a patrol vehicle for land search located 24 foreign nationals — 6 men, 7 women and 11 minors — in a semi-mountainous area near Lagkadiotis beach. The foreign nationals were handed over to the 1st Port Authority Section of Samothrace at the Central Port Authority of Alexandroupoli, which is conducting the preliminary investigation.
Sailing ban in Piraeus
In the morning hours, the captain of the passenger hydrofoil "Flying Dolphin XIX" (Reg. 9523) reported damage to the axial system of the left main engine during a service from Aegina to Piraeus. The vessel reached Piraeus under its own power at reduced speed, safely disembarking its 36 passengers. The 1st Port Authority Section of Tzelepi banned the vessel from sailing until presentation of a seaworthiness certificate from the competent ship surveyor.
Disabled sailing vessel on Ios
In the afternoon hours of the previous day, a sailing vessel flying the Greek flag with six Turkish national crew members on board experienced mechanical failure outside Ios port. With the assistance of the fishing vessel "Angela" (Reg. 01), the sailing vessel safely reached port, where Ios Port Authority banned it from sailing until the mechanical damage was repaired. No injuries were reported, nor was any maritime pollution observed.
Patient transfers
Under the coordination of the LS-ELAKT Operations Centre, two patient transfers were carried out: a 44-year-old was transferred from Mandraki port on Nisyros to Kardamaina on Kos aboard the passenger speedboat "Antonios" (Reg. Kos 40), and an 11-year-old from Fourni port to Ayios Kyrikos on Ikaria by LS-ELAKT patrol vessel.
