Triple petrol bomb attack in Thessaloniki: Counter-Terrorism identifies perpetrators
Greek Police are very close to identifying the perpetrators of the triple petrol bomb attack in Thessaloniki. The Counter-Terrorism Service estimates three main perpetrators, with possible involvement of others.

Greek Police are very close to identifying suspects in the triple petrol bomb attack in Thessaloniki, according to ERT. The Counter-Terrorism Service, which has taken over the investigation, is processing evidence with the aim of converting it into irrefutable proof before the courts.
The investigation is focusing on three main areas: the results of criminological examination for fingerprints or DNA from a piece of insulating tape, petrol bomb residue and a container with flammable liquid; video footage from security cameras; and witness statements. The analysis of the cameras is specifically aimed at linking any previous visits by the perpetrators to the explosion sites for reconnaissance.
The Counter-Terrorism Service estimates that there are three main perpetrators. The possibility of a fourth person is being examined in parallel, along with additional individuals with a supporting role who took part in the planning or execution of the attacks. According to evidence gathered so far, the perpetrators approached the apartment buildings on foot in the final metres, having previously separated into different groups.
The authorities are also investigating whether any stops or meetings with other persons took place before or after the attacks. Regarding the second and fatal explosion at the Nestor family apartment building, Police believe it resulted from vehicle fuel, beneath which the explosive device had been placed. Vaya Nestor died in this explosion, while Aphrodite and Panagiotis Nestor were injured, along with two other residents.
The family of Aphrodite Nestor is expected to set the date for Vaya Nestor's funeral. In the apartment building on Gravias Street, New Democracy officials continue voluntarily to repair the damage caused by the explosions.
