Mafia boss Francesco Di Martino killed in Pimonte, second ambush in three months
In Pimonte a new Camorra killing: Francesco Di Martino, 65 years old, founding boss of the Afeltra-Di Martino clan, was killed in the stable of his home. It is the second murder in the family in a few weeks.

Murder in Pimonte stable
Francesco Di Martino, 65 years old, known as uncle Ciccio, was killed in the stable of his home on Via Gesinella in Pimonte whilst tending to the animals. According to napoli.corriere.it, the killing represents a new ambush in the context of the feud between clans in the territory of the Lattari Mountains. Carabinieri and public prosecutor Giulio Vanacore of the Anti-Mafia District Directorate of Naples arrived at the scene.
Di Martino was considered one of the founders of the Afeltra-Di Martino clan, together with Raffaele Afeltra. The latter had been killed on 28 August with four shotgun blasts whilst returning home aboard a Fiat Panda, after having spent some hours on an agricultural property of his own. The two murders in a little over two months suggest an escalation of criminal violence in the area.
The 65-year-old had a past full of violent episodes. In the Eighties and Nineties he had been a protagonist in the feud between the D'Alessandro clan and the Imparato family, which had caused dozens of deaths in the Castellammare di Stabia area and on the Lattari Mountains. After serving a long prison sentence, Di Martino had been released. In a previous ambush his driver, Filippo Sabatino, had been killed.
Di Martino's latest arrest dates to July 2022, when carabinieri from Pimonte station and the Calabria Hunters carried out a search of his home and its outbuildings. They found a stolen Sphinx pistol calibre 380, ready for use with a round in the chamber, 32 cartridges of the same calibre and four 9-calibre cartridges. He was arrested for receiving stolen goods and illegal possession of weapons and ammunition. In recent months, after his release, he had devoted his time to caring for the animals in the stable.
With his cousins Raffaele Afeltra and Leonardo Di Martino — the latter still in prison — he had been among the founders of the clan that had provided support to Mario Umberto Imparato during the Camorra war of the Eighties and Nineties. The Naples Anti-Mafia District Directorate investigation continues to clarify the circumstances and those responsible for the latest killing.
