Murder in the Venetian area: two arrests

According to reteveneta.medianordest.it, two men have been arrested for the murder of Ferdinant Hoti, a thirty-five-year-old Albanian found dead on 8 September inside a Fiat Bravo in the Tergola canal at San Giorgio delle Pertiche. Damiano Fuschi, 54 years old resident in Mirano, and Matteo Mandruzzato, 51 years old domiciled in San Giorgio delle Pertiche, are accused of murder aggravated by premeditation, concealment of a corpse and illegal possession of a firearm in concert. One of the two has already provided admissions to investigators.

Investigators have established that Hoti was killed on the morning of 6 September in an auto repair shop in the "Mirano 1" complex with a shot from a calibre 12 shotgun. The man was wrapped in black sacks and hidden on the rear seats with tyres and material. During the following night the car was thrown into the canal in order to prevent its discovery.

Fingerprints found by the Parma RIS on the rear bumper of the car — the only part that remained out of the water — provided the decisive breakthrough. Investigators analysed dozens of hours of CCTV footage to reconstruct the movements of the two suspects. The arrests were carried out by the carabinieri on an order from the judge in Venice.

The motive appears to date back to disputes linked to the non-payment of a consignment of cocaine. The cooperation of one of the arrested men with investigators has allowed for the recovery of the shotgun believed to be the murder weapon.
