Anti-drugs operation by Police: mobile trafficking supply chain

According to questure.poliziadistato.it, the State Police have completed a series of operations that documented a drug trafficking network with no fixed bases, capable of adapting rapidly from domestic laboratories to direct street deliveries. Five people were arrested during operations conducted in the Capital.

The initial phase of the investigation emerged in Fiumicino, where officers from the Detached Commission intercepted a drug-money exchange on the street. The search led the police to the residence of a twenty-one-year-old Roman, where a proper domestic laboratory for drug preparation was discovered. Several pans still contained residues of the substance used for drug "cooking"; on the table were arranged three precision scales and materials for cutting and packaging doses.

The drug supply was kept in a shoe box in the living area: approximately 150 grammes of cocaine and hashish combined. A wardrobe concealed 6,000 euros in cash in banknotes of various denominations. The young man was arrested for possession with intent to supply.

In Colleferro, officers from the local Commission intercepted a thirty-five-year-old woman inside her own vehicle whilst delivering a packet of drugs to a man and receiving money in exchange. The search extended to the residence uncovered additional packets of cocaine and approximately 1,000 euros in cash. The woman was arrested and also charged with tampering with the microchip on her identity card.

In the Collatino district, officers identified a hired vehicle being used as a "mobile depot". Packets of cocaine had been concealed under the internal roof lining and in the glove compartment. Further drugs and over 150 euros in cash were found inside the vehicle.

In the north-east quadrant of the Capital, patrol teams and the Villa Glori Commission stopped a man on a motorbike with several grammes of cocaine hidden in his underwear and approximately 300 euros. A similar hiding place was used by a nineteen-year-old stopped by officers from the III Fidene-Serpentara District in a hired vehicle: he too had drugs in his underwear and approximately 400 euros in cash.

The overall tally is five arrests, approximately 200 grammes of cocaine and hashish seized, and over 7,500 euros in cash removed from the suspects. All arrests were validated by the Judicial Authority. For completeness, the investigations described refer to the preliminary investigation phase; the presumption of innocence applies to those under investigation until an irrevocable sentence of conviction.
