Officer run down in Agadir: Hammouchi at injured man's bedside, three accused remanded in custody

Abdellatif Hammouchi, director general of the national police and territorial surveillance, travelled to Mohammed VI University Hospital in Agadir on Wednesday to visit a police officer seriously injured during an intentional vehicle attack that occurred whilst on duty, according to Hespress.

The officer sustained severe injuries and multiple fractures after being deliberately struck by a vehicle. Hammouchi reviewed his state of health and the progress of his medical treatment.

Before his visit, the director had ordered an exceptional promotion for the injured officer and requested that the police health and social action services bear the full costs of medical and hospital treatment.

Hammouchi praised the professionalism and sense of duty of the police officer, reaffirming the responsibility of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) to protect its officers against assaults committed in the exercise of their duties.

A delegation comprised of senior police officials — including the police prefect of Agadir and representatives of the Mohammed VI Foundation for police social work — was also dispatched to the scene to provide additional assistance.

Three suspects have been held in provisional custody in connection with this matter, among them the alleged driver of the vehicle, who faces prosecution for attempted murder with premeditation.
