Drug trafficking network dismantled in Tangier, 700 kg of hashish seized

Tangier's judicial police put an end to the activities of a criminal network specialised in international drug trafficking, according to mobile.telquel.ma. The operation, conducted on the basis of intelligence from the General Directorate of Territory Surveillance (DGST), took place on Sunday 21 June in the early morning in the Gzennaya district, on the outskirts of Tangier, in coordination with the Royal Gendarmerie.

Four individuals were arrested at three vehicles. A search subsequently carried out at their residence made it possible to seize 700 kilograms of hashish, packaged in plastic blocks designed to imitate watermelons and prepared for export.

A consultation of the national security databases revealed that the four suspects, aged 32 to 39, had each previously been convicted of violent crimes and drug trafficking.

Held in police custody under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office, they are the subject of an investigation intended to identify all the national and international ramifications of the network. The authorities specify that this dismantling is part of the ongoing operations conducted by security services to combat drug and psychotropic substance trafficking networks.
