Portuguese fugitive arrested in Marrakech over Bordeaux murder

Hespress reports that Moroccan police arrested a 21-year-old Portuguese national in Marrakech on Monday, 2 November, on the basis of an international arrest warrant issued by French authorities.

The operation was carried out using intelligence from Morocco's Direction Générale de la Surveillance du Territoire (DGST). A check of the Interpol database confirmed that the suspect was being sought by French authorities on suspicion of murder, membership of a criminal organisation, and illegal possession and transportation of firearms.

Investigators suspect that he was involved together with multiple accomplices in a murder in Bordeaux in December 2025, linked to rivalry between drug trafficking networks.

The suspect had been residing illegally in Morocco. On the instruction of the competent prosecuting authority, an extradition procedure has been initiated.
