Child trafficking in Bucharest: two men detained by DIICOT following seven years of abuse
A pensioner aged 71 and a man aged 51 have been detained, accused of sexually exploiting a minor over a period of seven years. DIICOT is investigating the case.

Two men, aged 51 and 71, have been detained by authorities and are to be presented to judges for a decision on preventive arrest, accused of child trafficking and rape. According to Digi24, the information comes from the Directorate for the Investigation of Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), which has taken over the case.
In accordance with DIICOT prosecutors, in 2019, the man now aged 71 took advantage of the vulnerable situation of an 11-year-old girl — she had abandoned school, had no family and was living in extreme poverty — and forced her to engage in webcam chat in Bucharest.
Between 2021 and 2022, the same man forced her to engage in sexual relations for payment with people from his circle, as well as with other men contacted via the internet. "The defendant repeatedly engaged in sexual relations with the injured minor, exploiting the moral influence he exercised over her, consolidated through the provision of accommodation, the offering of gifts, as well as the inability of the victim to express her will," DIICOT stated.
Starting in 2022, a second man, aged 51, took over the exploitation of the minor, who was between 13 and 14 years old at that time and had come to consume prohibited substances. He forced her to engage in prostitution in apartments in Bucharest, taking over all sums paid by clients — in the same manner as the other defendant had done.
The same 51-year-old man later exploited a second victim in the course of 2026, "taking advantage of her feelings of affection, as well as through the exercise of acts of physical and psychological violence," according to prosecutors. The victim was forced to engage in prostitution in Buzău, Bucharest and in localities in Germany.
"The defendant exercised strict control over the activity of the victim, her schedule, the clients with whom she engaged in sexual relations, the rates charged and the sums of money obtained as a result of the provision of sexual services. The defendant benefited directly from the income obtained by the victim from the practice of prostitution," DIICOT prosecutors stated.
