42-year-old arrested on suspicion of murder in Ludvika

A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of Jimmy Bäckman, 22, in Ludvika, reports expressen.se. The man was already in custody and had been of interest to the investigation for some time, but was first informed of the suspicion of a crime on Wednesday.

– I have arrested him today, says deputy prosecutor Olle Sohlberg to Expressen.se.

The man's solicitor Björn Henriques states that his client denies the charges. Henriques had not been in contact with his client during the day but said he had discussed the case previously, since the 42-year-old had been mentioned in the investigation.

The 42-year-old has been identified by a 52-year-old man who was previously arrested on suspicion of harbouring a criminal in connection with Jimmy Bäckman's disappearance. Jimmy Bäckman's body has not yet been found, but the circumstances surrounding the disappearance have led police to assess that it constitutes a murder.

Searches of an area by Marnästjärn – a lake that the 52-year-old indicated – have been carried out without result.

Also part of the investigation is an anonymous letter that arrived at police on Wednesday. Police assess the information in the letter as highly interesting and are now urging the letter writer to contact police again.
