Gardaí launched an investigation in the early hours of Wednesday after a firearm was discharged at a residential property in Kilmainham, Dublin 8, Dublin Live reports. No injuries were recorded at the scene.

The incident is the third shooting in ten days in the Bluebell area of the city's southside. It follows a series of petrol bomb attacks on houses in the wider neighbourhood over the same period.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed the timeline: "Gardaí responded to reports of a firearm discharge at a residential premises in Kilmainham, Dublin 8 in the early hours of Wednesday 30th September 2026. No injuries were reported at this time. Investigations are ongoing."

Sinn Féin Councillor Daithí Doolan, chairperson of the Local Community Safety Forum, described the pattern as alarming. "Last night's shooting in Bluebell is deeply worrying," Doolan said. "It is the third shooting in ten days in this area of Dublin. It also comes after a number of petrol bomb attacks on houses in the wider area."

Doolan called on those responsible to end the violence immediately. "They are putting our communities under severe strain. They need to stop before someone is seriously injured or worse."

The councillor also called on Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan to meet local representatives and community members as a matter of urgency. "He must meet with us at a matter of urgency. The government must allocate resources so we can tackle the causes and consequences of this violence before it is too late," Doolan said.

He urged anyone with information to contact the Gardaí, saying community cooperation was essential to restoring safety. "It is only by working together that we will make our communities safe for everyone."

The shooting occurred near the community centre on Bluebell Road. Garda investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
