Fair Oaks music teacher arrested after CSAM found at his home
A 43-year-old music teacher in Fair Oaks, California, was taken into custody after Sacramento County sheriff's detectives discovered evidence of child sexual abuse material at his residence, cbsnews.com reports.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office identified the suspect as Jiamo Chen, who came under investigation following a tip that he was suspected of downloading child sexual abuse material. On 30 September, detectives executed a search warrant at Chen's home and said they found evidence of the material during the search.
Chen was subsequently booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of possessing child sexual abuse material.
Investigators noted that Chen operates a music studio from his Fair Oaks home and has been providing music lessons in the Sacramento area for approximately a decade. Among his students are children as young as four years old.
Detectives said they have not uncovered evidence of inappropriate physical contact between Chen and any child. However, the sheriff's office said it is concerned about his access to minors through his business and is working to establish whether additional unreported incidents may exist.
"Parents or guardians whose children have received music lessons from Chen are encouraged to speak with their children about their interactions with him," the sheriff's office said in a statement.
The sheriff's office added that it is not aware of any previous complaints or concerns involving Chen prior to this investigation.
