A man wanted for a deadly Middletown shooting was wounded in a police confrontation in Hartford. Both he and a second person suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Middletown Murder Suspect and Second Person Wounded After Shootout with West Hartford Officers

Two people, including a murder suspect sought in connection with a fatal shooting in Middletown, Connecticut, were shot during an exchange of gunfire with West Hartford police officers in Hartford on Tuesday night, wfsb.com reports.

The suspect was identified as Barrington Brown Jr., 43. Following his arrest, Brown was charged with murder, second-degree stalking, and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

According to West Hartford police, Middletown officers had been searching for a vehicle linked to a deadly shooting in the West Lake section of Middletown earlier that Tuesday. The victim was a woman who suffered a fatal gunshot wound, Middletown police said.

The vehicle was located near New Park Avenue in West Hartford through an automated licence plate reader. Officers attempted to stop the driver, but the driver fled eastward on Flatbush Avenue into Hartford.

The vehicle came to a stop near 50 Flatbush Avenue in Hartford, where an exchange of gunfire took place between Brown and West Hartford officers. Brown and a second person in the vehicle were struck and both sustained non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were hurt, West Hartford police confirmed.

Flatbush Avenue remained closed into Wednesday morning, Hartford police said.

The Connecticut Office of the Inspector General has opened an investigation into the shooting involving officers.
