Workplace shooting in Manassas leaves three critically injured

According to nbcwashington.com, a man opened fire on three of his coworkers at a business in Manassas, Virginia, at around 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning, sparking a state-wide manhunt.

Marvin Grant, 37, shot the three men at United Rentals on Wellington Road before fleeing the scene, Manassas City Police Chief Douglas Keen confirmed. All three victims were taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries and remain in critical condition.

Keen said Grant may be driving a gray Toyota Camry or Toyota Corolla bearing temporary North Carolina licence plates. Police have issued a lookout to agencies across Northern Virginia and the wider state.

"We know he's fled the area. We don't know where he's headed to," Keen said.

The shooting occurred inside a garage area of the business, where numerous other employees were present at the time. Keen described the likely trigger as an internal dispute: "Our working theory is that there was some kind of altercation that led to this."

Officers blocked access to Wellington Road and the Route 28 Bypass while the investigation was ongoing. Residents were advised to avoid the area and remain indoors. Students at the nearby Jennie Dean Elementary School were redirected to Metz Middle School as a precautionary measure.
