Construction site theft in Daviess County leads to drug charges

According to 14news.com, the Daviess County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) has arrested three people following an investigation into stolen construction supplies from a property on Hayden Road, with the initial theft reported on October 15.

Investigators say construction materials and tools were taken from the site, with significant damage also recorded — including cut locks and wiring pulled from walls. Surveillance footage captured a black pickup truck entering and leaving the property multiple times during the period the theft is believed to have occurred.

Detectives identified 46-year-old James Jackson as a suspect; he reportedly admitted to the theft. 50-year-old John Tinnell Jr. was also identified and subsequently arrested. Search warrants led to the recovery of stolen property, including a generator, new rolls of PEX tubing, and various tools and materials.

During searches at the residence shared by Tinnell and 54-year-old Leigh Shepherd, deputies observed marijuana and drug paraphernalia in plain view. A further search warrant for illegal drugs uncovered more than 20 baggies of suspected methamphetamine, 60 grams of suspected marijuana, and additional paraphernalia.

All three individuals — Jackson, Tinnell Jr., and Shepherd — face criminal charges stemming from the investigation. The DCSO is asking anyone with additional information to contact lead investigator Detective Sergeant Chris Hayes.
