Police checkpoint results in two drug arrests
According to diaridetarragona.com, Vila-seca Local Police arrested two men during a static checkpoint in the early hours of Thursday, 29 October at Ramon Muntaner square. Officers seized 19 packages of hashish and cannabis, as well as 300 euros in small notes, from inside a rental vehicle.
Police stopped the car at approximately 1.30 hours. After verifying the vehicle's documentation and identifying the driver and passenger, they detected a characteristic odour of narcotic substances. One of the occupants appeared in police databases for a suspected offence against public health in Reus, which prompted a thorough search.
During the inspection, officers found several packages wrapped in aluminium foil: some were stored inside a tobacco packet and others in a small wallet under the front passenger seat. Local police also located cash on the individuals. The Local Police indicated that the presentation of the substances and the fractionalised money constituted evidence that they were intended for sale and not for personal consumption.
During a voluntary personal search, one of the men handed over a small piece of hashish that he was carrying in his jacket pocket. The vehicle was towed away and taken to the municipal depot. The detainees were charged with a suspected offence against public health.
